High Drop Test Standards Ensure The Lowest Damage Rate During Transportation And Delivery

By Hanleide Furniture Team

Transportation damage is one of the biggest headaches in the furniture import business. At Hanleide Furniture, we've implemented drop test standards that go well beyond the industry-standard ISTA 3A/3B protocols to ensure our products arrive in perfect condition.

While most factories test to ISTA standards, we developed our own 17-step factory drop test protocol that is significantly more rigorous — testing more edges, more corners, and at extreme heights of up to 1000 mm (40 inches), compared to the typical ~460 mm (18 in) in ISTA standards. The result? Our customers consistently report damage rates below 1%, far lower than the industry average of 3-5%.

Our protocol covers 9 edge drops, 5 corner drops, and a unique hazard drop test (Step 17) where the carton is dropped onto a simulated sharp edge — a scenario not covered by standard ISTA procedures. The two 1000 mm (40 in) drops subject packaging to forces 4-5 times more severe than industry norms, ensuring our packaging can survive the toughest real-world conditions.

When you source from Hanleide, you get lower damage rates, fewer returns, and peace of mind. Every production batch undergoes random drop test sampling — our commitment to quality is ongoing, not a one-time check.
